VBS Mini-Update

Thanks to all of those who helped make our Vacation Bible School a success. We had over forty children in attendance. We also extend a special thanks to Faithlife Financial for providing a matching grant to help fund our VBS.

We're still gathering together pictures from the VBS, but here's some preview pictures of the set-up the day before:

The Season of Lent

Beginning with Ash Wednesday this week, the season of Lent begins.

Why Ash Wednesday?

The name Ash Wednesday came from the practice of applying ashes to congregants foreheads. As Genesis 3:19 tells us, we came from dust and to dust we will return. The ashes remind of us our mortality and the need to be cleansed from sin.

What is Lent?

People unfamiliar with the practice believe that it is about giving up things. In reality, Lent is a time of deep reflection and penitence considering the sacrifice Christ has made for us. Many Christians choose to give something up as a way to remember Christ's sacrifice.

For expanded answers to these questions and more about the Lutheran church year, see the LCMS Church Year FAQs.

Check out Our Weekly Services for updates on Lent and Easter services.

Welcome to our new Vicar!

This Sunday, September 20th, is our vicar's first Sudbury service. We will be hosting a potluck to welcome him to Northern Ontario and Redeemer Sudbury.

Visitors are welcome to attend and take this opportunity to get to know the vicar and the Redeemer community. All food contributions are welcome, but not expected.
